Backflow Preventers

The Canadian standards association defines a cross connection as any actual or potential connection between a potable water system and any source of pollution or contamination. Cross connections are present in every water system and, depending on the size of the system, hundreds or thousands of potential cross connections can exist.

Backflow prevention devices are used to protect potable water supplies from contamination or pollution due to a backflow or backsiphonage condition. In a water supply system, water is normally maintained at a significant pressure to enable water to flow from the tap, shower, or other fixtures. Water pressure can be reduced or reversed in extreme cases when a water main bursts, pipes freeze, or when there is unexpectedly high demand on the water system. Reduced pressure in the pipe may allow contaminated water from the soil, storage, or other sources to be drawn back into the water system. Give us a call and have our BCWWA certified backflow testers ensure your water system is being correctly protected.

NFPA 17a and 96 require that a qualified fire protection technician inspect and test the entire kitchen suppression system semi annually (every 6 months), including:
Examining all detectors, compressed gas containers, agent cylinders, releasing devices, piping, hose assemblies, nozzles, signals, all auxiliary equipment and the liquid level of all non-pressurized wet chemical containers as well as verifying that distribution piping is not obstructed and replacing fusible links.
